This Holiday Season, where2getit Reaches Out To The Community
WHEELING, Illinois, December 8, 2003 - Every year, the Chicago Sun-Times hosts the “Season of Sharing” program, delivering gifts to Chicago’s needy children. The newspaper collects thousands of letters to Santa, written by the children from local schools, shelters, and hospitals. This year, where2getit sponsored 20 children. They delivered gifts ranging from coats & socks to toys & games and spread some happiness to kids who would otherwise celebrate the holidays without receiving presents. Where2getit also contributed to St. Vincent de Paul Center’s Adopt-a-Family program. Parents and children submitted personal wish lists of items that they needed and wanted for Christmas, but couldn’t afford to provide for themselves. Where2getit provided clothing, coats, shoes, bedding, toys and games to 3 less fortunate families in Chicago.
“We wanted where2getit to contribute to local organizations this year,” said Manish Patel, President and CEO of where2getit. “I wanted to make things more personal. The lists were so fun to receive - the children’s letters are hand written - and everyone at where2getit really had fun knowing there were kids out there who were going to have a smile on their face Christmas morning thanks to this effort. Thinking about an actual person opening the gifts we bought especially for them made the whole experience all the more special.”

About Chicago Sun-Times “Season of Sharing”
During the Holiday Season, thousands of letters to Santa - written by kids at local schools, shelters and hospitals - pile up, awaiting the kindness of strangers. The Chicago Sun-Times hopes to put each letter in the hands of a reader, who will play Santa and buy the requested gifts.
