The default radius is set to 20 miles. The consumer can also choose a specific type of reseller to help narrow their search. So if they need an audio video reseller instead of a mass merchant or government reseller, they can easily find the best place to go. They can also generate turn by turn directions to the location of choice.

When you click the buy on-line button, a list of e-tailer’s that have the specific product in stock is displayed. The key here is to understand how Viewsonic is controlling the buying process by driving consumers directly to product pages within their online channel partner’s websites.

In addition to making the buying process easier for the consumer there is another benefit to the manufacturer. The e-tailer locator includes the ability to monitor exactly how many dollars the manufacturer is referring to each online retailer. And they can see which products each e-tailer has in stock. In addition to the e-tailer locator reports, Viewsonic can also monitor where people are searching for a local place to buy. They can see exactly how many searches are being done within any date range and sort the information by zip code, city, state or time of day.

Controlling the buying process and monitoring the traffic in this way can help any manufacturer sell more online and offline.
