New SlippyMap API

Chicago, October 20, 2006 – Where2GetIt today announced the availability of its next generation mapping and geospatial platform, the SlippyMap API. Like other geospatial providers, Where2GetIt utilizes the latest in AJAX technology to create highly interactive online mapping applications. Where2GetIt differs from others through its unique use of “unobtrusive Javascript.” Unlike the APIs of Yahoo, Google and MapQuest which rely on the more complicated and highly visible JavaScript coding, Where2GetIt’s functionality allows customers to create geospatial applications with simple HTML and cascading style sheets (CSS).

“The other industry APIs require users to have in depth knowledge of Javascript. We wanted to make the development of geospatial applications easier and bring it to the masses of HTML developers,” said Manish Patel, president and CEO of Where2GetIt.

Clients most often choose Where2GetIt’s geospatial solutions over those of competitors because of Where2GetIt’s first class customer service and its unique blend of industry leading technology partners. Where2GetIt is the first application service provider (ASP) providing geospatial enterprise level applications using Oracle technology, a major differentiator in this market. Where2GetIt leverages the AJAX library called Prototype, recently honored as the number one AJAX library by Ajaxian.com.

The SlippyMap API provides full and self –service mapping applications for enterprise marketers. More than 450 brands throughout the U.S. and Canada already leverage Where2GetIt’s mapping and locator applications, including Sony, Viewsonic, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Outback, Office Depot, Fila, Reebok, Rockport, Dirt Devil, Hoover, and Eureka. To demo the functionality of the SlippyMap API, Where2GetIt developed SlippyMapTM, a new mapping application and mashup platform located at http://www.slippymap.com.

As part of Oracle OpenWorld San Francisco 2006, Where2GetIt will exhibit in booth #3758, Moscone West. Where2GetIt’s Jon Scarbrough will present the SlippyMap API and REST API at the North American Oracle Spatial SIG meeting on October 22, 2006, 10:45 am. – 12:00 p.m. at the Hilton Union Square. Scarbrough’s session is part of the Database Technology track and will take place in room 23.
